I have a buddy that is involved in the group that is fighting for Portland to get the Montreal Expos. He says Portland has a better than 50% chance because of the close proximity of of City #2 hopefull Washington DC to Baltimore. Check out the site on Stadium proposals, ballets, and all the insight to the fight.

I am ALL for pro baseball here in Portland!!! I'd be an avid supporter.

AS LONG AS there is NO PUBLIC MONEY spent on the deal.....and that just ain't a'gona happen, is it. Another $100 million for a retractable roof...that's over the top of the $360'ish million they might maybe be able to come up with without directly affecting our taxes.

The new Candlestick (ok, 3-Com or whatever it is) was built in SanFran with solely private funds. Wonder how that happened?? The latest thing in the paper is that MLB will require any new stadiums to be built with public funds, so as not to put a financial burden on the team as it starts up!!

Sorry, I'd love to see it, but I'm a realist, and don't think it can possibly happen.
