Default Bank fishing with a fly?

Hello im new to this site and well pretty new to fishing, i was curios i have a little boat and when me and my son would go fishing we would troll with fly's with our normal poles and would do very well, the bad news is my truck is in the shop so i can tow my boat to the lake today can anyone explain a setup using my normal pole and the flys we where using? we are just fishing for trout maybe a trip if we get lucky

You might try using a boober in front of the fly. The size of bobber would have a lot to do with the ability to cast. They make clear boobers for just such a purpose. Generally a bobber that is more oval in shape works best as it does not create as much surface drag. Probably having the fly 3=4 feet behind the bobber would work well.

I used to just whack the heck out of the stockers doing that. One of the oval fly bobbers with a fly on about a 4 ft. leader. I would just drag a few feet, let it sit for a few seconds, and repeat. It can be killer right before dark. Good luck!

that's the same set up that i use and it's killer on trout.

OK here is a fishing story, First time me and my son go out fishing in our new to us boat, we where doing pretty good My son hooks a 18inch at least fish brings it to the boat in his excitement he try's to lift it out of the water it squirms right off his hook then i have a 11 year old blaming me for not netting it fast enough lol..

By the way, some of those clear, oval fly casting bobbers can be filled with some water so they can be cast further. You basically thread the bobber on your line, move it to the desired spot on your line, twist the inner rubber tub (the twisting holds it to the line), tie on your fly, and cast.
