You will be reassured to know US Border Patrol personnel have ramped up security at our nation's borders

.
Got back last night from another Mexican drug run  . On Saturday I walked across the border into Los Algodones (SW of Yuma). Did a couple of quick deals (100 "Claritin"- 10 mg. $8.99) then, having been in Mexico for all of 10 minutes, decided I'd had enough and headed back to the USA.
On previous trips (pre- 9/11) the border patrol guard would look you in the eye, ask your nationality, ask if you bought anything other than drugs (!), and wave you thru. Never any line - just a liesurely stroll past the counter. Now, there is a big line that took 20 minutes to get thru, and there are now 2 bored agents who no longer look you in the eye, just mumble a request for citizenship and to see your driver's license. Without looking to see if the license photo resembles the person who hands it to them, they enter the name shown in a computer and in a couple seconds say "pass".
The Border Patrol roadblock on northbound US 95 was closed although there was no shortage of cars on the road. Guess they figure anybody who makes it past the border entry station must be OK  .
Oh well.
The good news is the average Arab terrorist would stand out like a sore thumb in that crowd and might be noticed by the border agents. However, if there are any terrorists who are older, grey-haired, and carrying a little plastic bag full of cheap Mexican drugs, they would probably get in to the US, no problemo.
BTW - it was 80 degrees at noon saturday and I was driving at 70 mph with all the windows down, heaters off, and wearing a T-shirt! Just like summer!!!
