Default Bank fishing around Sunriver?

Hi,
I'm heading to Sunriver without taking the boat.
Is there any good bank fishing on the Deschutes, Wickiup, Crain Praire, Lava, or elsewhere?

Bait, lure, or fly.

South Twin might be your best bet...

Deschutes is not open until May 23 ... it's open below Benham Falls (downstream from Sunriver), Fall River is open. some of Lava Lake is fishable from the bank, Bass fishing at Davis from the lava flow ...

Try fishing the Dechutes below Benham Falls with a large Rapalla. Look for big browns hanging behind rocks in strong current.

Check out the Fall River, lots of spots to fish with little pressure from other anglers. FYI its fly fishing only.

ditto to south twin, also north twin can be productive this time of year. south twin also rents small boats in case you can't help yourself! other choices might be elk lake or head over to prineville and hit ochoco res. but south twin is a no brainer this time of year. powerbait of the bottom 18" leader with a sliding sinker = money. mostly truck trout but a few nice carryovers usually available.

Lava was still iced over the last I heard. The weather today isn't going to help.

South Twin or below Benham if gear fishing. Davis or Fall if flyfishing.

When we go to Sunriver (this year Memorial Day, and 3rd week of July), for a quick getaway, I just head down toward the marina, and walk down the wide horse trail that follows the river, just before the marina. Some good fishing in the evening or early morn. I have fished the Fall River, but it is flyfishing only and the fish are spooky. Have fun and leave some fish for me......... lol

Thanks for all the help - this is what ifish is all about.

Late morning we tried below Benhan Falls (had to ask a local how to get there) 10 miles down a gravel road. Had a few strikes from casting a silver body/white Roostertail. Nothing on flies.

Went back to the cabin for lunch.

Then took a nephew and the Father-in-law to S. Twin Lake from 2 to 6:30. The nephew took a kayak out and got the first 11" on marsh mellow with worm. The rest of us fished from the shore.

What was working for me: a sliding sinker, barrel swivel, 24" of 4# fluorocarbon, then tie on a size 18 treble. Put a 1/3 worm, 1 kernel of Fire Corn, then wrap a 1/4 regular marsh mellow around the leader, slid to hook. Cast out 100 ft and wait.

The Father-in-law Caught 2 small ones.

I caught 4 9" trout. An Osprey (perched above me 60 on a limb) swooped down on my caught fish as it was coming in. A couple of times it missed, one time it was successful, and once it took off flying with my fish and line, I began tightening the drag and it finally crashed into the water and let the fish go, which I was able to retrieve.

Anyway - You guys ROCK
