first good day in too long!
I gladly watched everyone fight for space on the last day of salmon fishing as my buddy and I managed five of these fun fish from the bank! This was much needed as this winter steelhead season was not my best. LONG LIVE SMALLIES!

Re: first good day in too long!
Let everyone else fight for space while trying to catch "serious fish". While you waste your time fishing(and catching) 5 "junk fish". Congratulations! Glad you had fun and sucsessful fishing(and catching) trip. It just seem there is a little too much emphasis on Salmon and steelhead. Both very cool but people seem to look at me funny when I ask them about Bass and panfish. Oh well more for you and me.

Re: first good day in too long!
Good call I should have mentioned that, they all swam off unharmed. I am not sure of their spawning times but the first one I got had a big fat belly? I didn't know so she barley left the water.

Re: first good day in too long!
I don't think any of them will understand until they know what its like to throw a #11 Rapala with a light-medium action spinning rod and 6# test line. Then retrieve the lure with twitches and pauses, making it come alive. Then having a truly dedicated 5 pound bronze rocket come full bore for the lure and attack it. That fish can leap, turn on its side and dig for deep water, or just plain bull-dog you.
If you can deal with that and say that it wasn't one of the most exciting things you've ever done with your pants on, I'll never mention bass fishing again. Go throw your corkie and yarn, over and over and over again.
Funny how if you're fishing for crappie, its a "bobber". If you're fishing for steelhead, you're using a "float". Look real close, pretty much the same darn rig.

I hear you. I have an appreciation, and am willing to fish for anything that swims . But my favorite fishing memory is of catching a 5' large mouth With a home tied deer hair popper on a #5 wt flyrod man it was an amazing fight!!

Re: first good day in too long!
Nice, My best was 21 inchs, marked the length on my rod and quickly released. Measured the rod mark when I got home.

Could'nt agree more!!!!! These people in the Northwest have "Trout & Salmon on the brain"!!!!! They just can't imagine why anyone would want to fish for Bass or Panfish. Morons!!!!.....Oh well as was said....their loss is our gain!!!
