Vancouver lake?
Hello there. New here first post. I'm new to the area and am trying to scout out new fishing spots. I'm curious about Vancouver lake. I've taken my little jonboat out there a few times but no luck. Curious if anyone has any good tips.I've heard mixed things about the lake but can't help but feel optamistic it seem's to have all the makings of a great panfish lake.(shallow, weedy, sandy bottom) Plus it's large quiet and almost divoid of people on most days (one of the most underated of attributes ). I've been away from fishing for quite awile, but used to fish quite alot in my youth. I like fishing for pretty much anything and fish for anything from bluegill on an #4 flyrod to sturgon.love it all . Thanks in advance for any advise or help given.

Re: Vancouver lake?
Welcome to I-fish!
There are very few fish in that lake and very little water!
If you want to really enjoy Vancouver lake: You may want to take up sailing, canoeing, kayaking or paddlewheeling. One other way is to purchase a home above it, so that you can watch other people sailing, canoeing, kayaking or paddlewheeling.
You may want to try the flushing channel that goes from the lake to the river-it is a little deeper!

Re: Vancouver lake?
Thanks for all the replies. I've been out there several times in the afternoon with my wife on our little boat(can be really pretty out there watching the sun start to go down), don't seem to see too many people catching stuff from the shore. But lots of carp jumping around, cool to watch at least. But still would like to catch something. Still can't seem to shake the feeling that there's lots of fish in there. Thanks again, keep'm comin

Re: Vancouver lake?
I use to catch fish in the lake until they "cleaned it up" Dreged all the structure leaving only a mud bottom. It took the Departmant of ecology (Suppose to insure no one is poluting the lake) 30 years to find out their sewer was running down burnt bridge creek into the lake. I wonder if those natzies will fine the crap out of themselves.

I have been wanting to try bow fishing there as well. No all I need to do is find a good deal on a bow.

Re: Vancouver lake?
and as for a launch, i think the best bet is at Felida Moorage, just make sure you dont back your trailer too far into the water, as there is a sign stating an abrupt edge drop off... i just launched there the other day, and it wasnt really that bad. Its $3 to launch a boat and 50cents to park per vehicle..

Re: Vancouver lake?
You can also launch - depending on what kind of boat you have - at the end of La Frambois Rd. in Fruit Valley. One of my fondest fishing memories ever was catching carp after carp after carp after carp out of Vancouver Lake in a buddies drift boat in high school.

I would have launched there too, but i heard its a tough one considering the water is so low right now, and you have to back your vehicle in the water some outrageous distance...

Re: Vancouver lake?
Wow!!! I went to work and just looked on the board. I didn't realise that this was going to be such a popular topic, Or that there are so many Vancouver fisherman on this board .Good to see. I've only launched from the felida moorage in the lake river so far. I just found out about the launching spot over on the other side of the lake and haven't tried it yet. Looks promising for me though my boat is a car topper . I seem to remember hearing that you are not supposed to take carp from the lake, as they are there to keep the oxygen robbing vegetation in check, I may be wrong though. Love to see all the responses, and hear about everyone's experiences.

I launched my old 17' smoker craft there the first weekend I got it brand new, tip cheat the ditch on the left as you back up goes all the way to deeper water so dump in the ditch & pool your way out.

Re: Vancouver lake?
Went there today to check it out. Nice looking water!!! Can't wait for the heat!
Question: I am an Oregon resident, do I need to get a WA license for shooting carp with my bow? Hunting or Fishing license?????
Thanks,
BU
