Need channel cat tips near Adrian, OR
I am hauling a horse to a ranch near Adrian, Oregon (a few miles south of Ontario) tomorrow. I plan on coming home (Zigzag, Or area) Saturday afternoon or maybe Sunday.
I haven't fished for channel cats in years. Anyone know of some good bank fishing areas near Adrian? Looking at the map it appears that Adrian is near the Snake River and, a little to the west; the Owyhee River. Is this a good time of year for channel cats over there?
Any other tips (rigging, bait, etc) would be appreciated too!
Thanks!

I am from the Nyssa/Adrian area and have fished for them for years. I have used nightcrawlers, chicked gizzards, or any catfish bait that smells horrible. I even used a chunk off a bar of soap and caught a few last summer. Just add enough weight so you'll be on the bottom. Hope ya have fun.

Thanks for the tips! Which would be better, the Snake or the Owyhee?

Your best bet would be the Snake. You can try the Snake in Adrain or at the Nyssa boat ramp. Both are successful areas. My grandma lives right in the area where the Owyhee dumps into the Snake and there isn't much there, I have fished it pretty much my whole life. But the spots near the bridge in Adrian and Nyssa are easily accessable and are good spots to fish.

Re: Need channel cat tips near Adrian, OR
Adrian and Nyssa are always good spots to catch cats. The summer months have always treated me the best. I've sat on that Nyssa dock all night and caught cats. I'm not too familiar with the Snake right up by Parma although I do have some buddies that have fished it quite a bit.

Re: Need channel cat tips near Adrian, OR
Here's my report: Hauled a horse to a ranch near Adrian yesterday, and by the time we were finished with that, the day was over. Spent the night in a motel with the plan to go fishing in the area this morning. Woke up to heavy, constant rain. The kind of rain we get where I live on the west side of Mt. Hood at least 9 months of the year. Just couldn't get motivated to bank fish in the pouring rain, so we came back home. What a long drive... One of days I'll plan a fishing trip over there during sunny weather.
