PDA question
I'm looking at getting a PDA and am looking for some input. What model do you use, what features does it have, and how much did it cost you? I want to get the most bang for the buck!
Thanks a bunch

Re: PDA question
depends on what you need to do with it...I have palm 105 I paid about $100 for and it does what I need....address book, memos, calender, notepad, etc. Something better would be nice, but after thinking it over I don't need any more than that. I DLed a couple of applications that are useful in my line of work and voila!

Re: PDA question
I use a handspring, I dont think they make the "visor" anymore, but the accesories I have are awesome, a digital voice recorder, a cell phone attachment, and an MP3 player that rocks~! I am trying to find a GPS attachment on ebay too.
Look for Handspring products at bestbuy.
Whatever you get, make sure it has palm os. I strongly recommend a USB docking station for your PC and a program called "documents to go" for word excel and outlook , all synch with your PC files, if in-fact you use these programs.
This and other software is available for a 30 day free trial downloadable off the internet, and transfered to your palm device. Some are even free.
grab a copy of PC mag or computer shopper, or look for rating sheets on the web. I'd avoid brands like sony, toshiba and panasonic.

Re: PDA question
My wife started with a hand-me-down Palm III and fell in love. When that died I tried to talk her into a Handspring (more for lower price) but she needed a Palm. I picked up a new m105 off of eBay for less, including shipping, than I would have locally and she loves it. I was also able to pick up a Palm keyboard and case and that's what she types her notes for class into. The standard notepad that Palm comes with has a small page limit so we picked up Freewrite online for free. Very nice.
Personally, I probably would have bought the Handspring, though.

Re: PDA question
Frys has "previously loved" Handspring Deluxe for $90. Facotry referb with a 90 day warranty. Similar to the Palm V we have and love.

Re: PDA question
I'm on my third Palm, The better half got me a Palm Tungsten for Christmas, and it is a beauty. I started with the Original Pilot, moved up to a IIIc four years ago, and the Tungsten is definitely the best yet!
The Previously loved Visors at Fry's, mentioned earlier would be a good starting point. We got my mother one of these a year or two ago, and she really likes hers.

Re: PDA question
Spud, press that hand firmly against your forehead, thus you will find the backup file in your rear view mirror without taking your PDA off the steering wheel.

Re: PDA question
24/48,

Re: PDA question
Whatever you get, buy a protective case for it. Unlike HP scientific calculators, PDA's do not survive the 1 meter drop test.

Re: PDA question
Word on the street is the PocketPC operating system is a dog. What a surprise from Micro$oft!
Stick with the PalmOS. Just got some Palm m515's for the bosses at work (I didn't get one!) - pretty nice - color!

Re: PDA question
i finally broke down and got myself a clie sl10. so far, i'm really happy with it. 7mb of available memory, IR port that i can hit my nokia cell with, 320x320 resolution screen (as compared to 160x160 on most palms). and the price was right via radio shack of all places. i got mine at the store and paid and extra $10 for it, but it was a display model so i talked the salesman into giving me a 1yr extended warranty on it.
before you buy, think about what you're going to use it for. color is only good for pictures really (c'mon folks, be honest, color on a pda is just a bell and whistle thing), and it adds at least $100 to your purchase price.
the "previously loved" handsprings at fry's are factory refurbs that only come with a 90 day warranty that can't be extended. if you choose to go that direction, buyer beware. i liked the handspring springboard idea, but i don't have a need for any of those. the cell phone option would've been great if you could get one that would connect to at&t's network. all the other networks have coverage maps that look like spiderwebs in oregon. i already have a gps and wouldn't think of taking my pda out onto tillamook bay or down the clackamas.
good luck on the search.

Re: PDA question
For Christmas I got my wife a Dell Axim pocket PC. I dont use those things, but I gotta admit, its pretty sweet and very fast. She used to use Palms, but hates them now.
If I start to use a PDA, I'd probably go with the HP 1910 just for the size of it.
