Re: POLL: How do you Connect to the Web?
I live in the middle of nowhere...sprints lines here are the WORST, and I dont expect it to change soon...I might try a two way ISDN depending on how much they soak me for another pair of copper to my new house, theres no market here on Slab Creek, halfway between 18 and 101, nothing commercial, and few homes.
I did have a sat modem until I got layed-off...cancelled that while I was still reading my pink slip!
Charter cable stops about 1/4 of a mile before my house!..the bass-terds are 14 million dollars in debt...doubt they will be building plant to my house any time soon.
So me and my 4k computer are sitting here with a max speed of 28k!!

Re: POLL: How do you Connect to the Web?
cotr,
I had forgotten about the ISDN. They were quite costly a few years back and it was predicted that they would not survive the competition with the cable and xDSLs. If anyone is using ISDN, I would like to know.
BTW, who's image is it on your avatar? It reminds me of Mrs. Brady!

Re: POLL: How do you Connect to the Web?
Gotta show my mom some r.e.s.p.e.c.t.!
Nah I just thought it was funny how Ultralight refered to her as "Mrs Brady"....I had been stumped all day trying to remember her first name, and the only person on the best show in the whole wide world to call her carol was "Oh Mike"
"gotta keep onnn keep onnn keep onnn keepin it on"

Two responded under "Other", and I'm curious as to what type they are, so please elaborate.

Re: POLL: How do you Connect to the Web?
I use 56k here in Vancouver and I use Microwave DSL in Idaho.
It is really neat you can check them out here.

Re: POLL: How do you Connect to the Web?
AT&T Broadband cable. The only problem is they sell the lines to someone about once a year and everyone has to change their e-mail address. They will be doing it again in March.

Re: POLL: How do you Connect to the Web?
Stuck with dial up. I'm only 9 miles from salem to. Sure would like something faster, looking in to satelite. Worried about that cuz the boob tube goes searching for signel that can last a long time. I sure am tired of getting kicked off dial up and restarting in the middle of stuff. SS

Re: POLL: How do you Connect to the Web?
Mtn Man,
The Microwave DSL sounds pretty cool. Tell me how you like it in terms of reliable connection, speed, service, etc.
Yeah, I feel for you dial-up folks, I've been there and done that. Not fun stuff! Cable modem is great but the price continues to go up, along with the Cable TV rates.
