Re: Drowning on the EF Lewis
I don't want to make light of it, but if my way to go is on a river at 76, that won't be the worst option, though I'd prefer it to be from the heartbreak of losing a 50 lb springer.
My sympathies to his family and friends.

Re: Drowning on the EF Lewis
It's unfortunate, for sure...
The story, though, said heart attack...not drowning. Perhaps the thread name ought to be changed to "tragedy on the East Fork"????

Re: Drowning on the EF Lewis
Mr. Billy Wiggins a friend of mine died in the accident.
I just learned from close friends of the family that Billy was rowing one of several boats doing some recon work concerning preserving the EF Lewis from the devastating impacts of the gravel mining operation that has destroyed the lower part of the E. Fork.
Billy was rowing 2 others and apparantely had either suffered a stoke or heart attack causing him to loose control of the boat and it hit a rock just below them. He and the others made it to shore and he collasped. One of the passangers was an ex-paramedic and immediately began efforts to revive him. A helicopter was called and all efforts failed to save him.
Billy was an excellent fly fisher, fly tier and all around fisherman. He gave freely of his time to help others. He will be missed by his family and many many friends.
Billy was on the river devoting his time to try saving its precious assets, the steelhead and other fish that we all enjoy pursuing.
Say a prayer for Billy and his family.
Giz....

Re: Drowning on the EF Lewis
Sad to hear about the man.. I know there is some aggressive water for the average rower just above the Lewisville park bridge, but nothing to serious below that... Sorry to hear it..

Re: Drowning on the EF Lewis
Was the boat a db or a rubber raft.
