Default Computers in the work place.

I got an unexpected day off today. At my work we are in the process of upgrading our OS to Windows 2000. So this week was the Engineering Departements turn. It apparently takes most of the day since the guys that had the upgrade Mon and Tues didnt get thiers back until 3pm or so. So instead of sitting around doing nothing I took a vacation day.

Without a computer I could not do my job. :depressed: Simply amazing how much we rely on computers to do the day to day things. You would also think that one could go to another desk and use thiers but I guess it isnt quite set up that way. But that is a different story...........

Yeah, I know what ya mean Waterdog. The hair starts flying when we loose a computer. Then some computer geek comes in, makes a mess, and says "I is all done". I go in to check the operations only to find he ain't done. Finally after another hour he usually gets the job done. I feel for ya. Have a good weekend.

We're switching over to a bureau-wide, NATIONAL network, with WindowsXP Professional. All settings, such as screen resolution, screen savers, backgrounds, etc., will be strictly controlled from Denver.

You don't suppose there will be a few problems, do you?? When the main server goes down in Denver, do ya suppose an entire Bureau inside the federal government will come to a screeching halt??

ARRRRRGGGGHHHHH

XP? Dang, gluttons for punishment. My office is going to be upgrading from NT4 to WIn2K in the next couple of months. Should be interesting.

If your servers go down, would you mind taking down SSA as well? I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.
