My fallen brothers
I just wanted to take a moment to publicy remember my brothers who died in the line of duty yesterday. Those heroes who served the public in Coos Bay shall always be honored by many.

Re: My fallen brothers
Watching KGW last night to get the details, and i was disgusted! Channel 8 names thier "top Story " of the night, the arrest of ruben Patterson for spousal abuse, and then follows with the continuing saga of damon and rasheed. Nothing like minimizing the tragic loss of 3 oregon firefighters. KGW's news director ought to go to work for the springer show. I've emailed them as well as the oregonian with my outrage. A fellow firefighter, Local 1660.

Re: My fallen brothers
I too share those thoughts. Though I was only a lowly volunteer for 8 years I can appreciate the ever present danger that those who serve experience. Those that have given their life deserve the highest honor and gratitude ( as well as those that are still working ).
The flags at the Nehalem City Hall are flying at half mast.
Thanks

Re: My fallen brothers
I was a fireman and my brother is a fireman. I've been close a couple of times and my heart just stops when I hear about our boys not coming out.
Everything they do, everything they prepare for, is just to help someone in their moment of most desperate need. They are heroes every day, not just when they save someone - or die.

Re: My fallen brothers
Good post Spud. It is a terrible thing , 11 kids without fathers now. We all know that when we walk out the door to go on duty every three days, we may never come back. The thought hits a little closer to home when it is local. We watche dit multiple times at the station yesterday and still couldnt believe it. Terrible terrible thing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families
Chummer, we had the same sentiment last night at the station. While watching the news the Jail blazers were on 2 of the three statons as lead. We lose 3 brothers and we have to listen to meaningless BS about those idiots.

Re: My fallen brothers
THE FIREFIGHTERS PRAYER.
WHEN I AM CALLED TO DUTY, GOD
WHEREVER FLAMES MAY RAGE
GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO SAVE SOME LIFE
WHATEVER BE ITS AGE
HELP ME EMBRACE A LITTLE CHILD
BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE
OR SAVE AN OLDER PERSON FROM
THE HORROR OF THAT FATE
ENABLE ME TO BE ALERT AND
SEAK THE WEAKEST SHOUT
AND QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY
TO PUT THE FIRE OUT
I WANT TO FILL MY CALLING AND
TO GIVE THE BEST IN ME
TO GUARD MY EVERY NEIGHBOR
AND PROTECT THEIR PROPERTY
AND IF ACCORDING TO YOUR WILL
I HAVE TO LOSE MY LIFE
PLEASE BLESS WITH YOUR PROTECTING HAND
MY CHILDREN AND MY WIFE
