Trout Fishing!!!
I am going out on opening day and gonna try to get my limit. My favorite and most productive way to catch them is to throw power bait on bottom with a barrel sinker, drift salmon eggs, trolling rooster tails or casting flies.
My question is, what is your favorite bait or lure to fish them with, and any favorite techniqes?
Go Ahead and post......

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
definitely power eggs - they are less messy and you can re-use them fish after fish

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
For little trout (I live in Klamath Falls now) I like a variety of powerbait or worm with red egg. I also love to fish lures with either panther martins, kastmasters, or rooster tails. For the big fish that I am now catching and still learning to catch frozen minnows and scent seem to be the key. fishing for stocked rainbows you can never go wrong with a worm and powerbait for lakef ishing and a good bet of getting your five.

I like to cast and retrive a small red and white Dare Devil I just love the way they slam it on an ultra light rod

Goat hair mini leaches. On my Winston 3 weight it's tough to beat.

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
Wedding ring spinner with either the brass or silver blade depending on weather. Always green and always tipped with about an inch long piece of nightcrawler. Sometimes I put a little Pro Cure Trophy Trout gel on the wedding ring too and that seems to help. I will also re-tie the wedding ring with a size 4 owner or gami octopus hook on about 4 feet of 4lb test. Then I just run a small barrel swivel with one or two split shots above it on my main line (# of split shots depends on how deep the fish are). Thats all their is to it. I caught 9 stockers in about an hour last night on that. I just throw the stockers back unless they are holdovers or brooders. Fun to watch the ultralight rod bury in the rod holder when trolling with my toon though!
I even use this from the bank trout fishing. Just add a little more weight to get a long cast out of it.

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
I like a garlic scented marshmellow and 1/3 a nightcrawler, off the bottom with a slip sinker and about 24" leader.

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
in the late summer months big fish go deep. dangle a nightcrawler directly beneath the boat just a crank or two off the bottom. the big boys will find you.

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
Flat-lining a frog pattern or black Triple Teaser 50 to 100 feet behind the canoe in the evening. It's the most fun you can have, bar none. When they slam it and go flying through the air trying to get it off, well, unless you've hooked a steelhead on a dry fly in a stream five feet across, there's not much else that can beat it.
Second best would be a nymph drifted through a nice hole on a small stream. Or an egg, your choice, it feels the same on the end of the rod.

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
Green and white silverfish trolled as slow as possible.
Powerbait is my second choice (not the pre-formed stuff) but I only use bait if I plan to keep them. If it is a catch and release trip I only troll hardware so they don't swallow the hooks.

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
I've been doing great with a frog pattern size 50 hotshot, trolled 30-40' behind my canoe. 1/8th oz. sliding sinker to keep it down. Slays the little stockers, and my wife picked up a 16 and a 18" holdover yesterday using one. They absolutely hammer the plug, makes for a fun fight on light gear. Second choice would be wedding ring tipped with a berkley trout worm. Good luck

My new favorite method but I've been losing several fish on the way back the boat.

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
casting blue body and silver blade #3 blue foxs....also my #2 is a panther martin #6 size copper blade black body with yellow dots on the sides.
turbo power bait in rainbow on a size 6 baitholder on a 2-3 foot leader to a barrel swivel, slide a 1/2 oz eggsinker on the mainline and tie onto other end of swivel all on 8lb test.
also, same rig but use a clear casting float instead of the weight and put a black gnat with a red tail fly on.

Re: Trout Fishing!!!
Hello everybody!!
Sure enough I went out on opening day and limited and 18 others released. Plunking salmon eggs was the trick.
