Koke Rods
I missed my best opportunity to get info on New Koke rods at the Koke class at suttle lake, but Springers are tough to pass up. I'm a newbe lake fisherman, but this is my year to try it out. I picked up a downrigger and now I need a couple rods and reels. I'm not looking for high end stuff, just left hand retreive and get the job done type of rods. Any sugestions are apreciated.

Re: Koke Rods
You can't go wrong with the Shimano Talora Kokanee rod. It's Ultra light with a medium slow action. Aout $70.00 but I heard Joes had them on sale....works great behind a downrigger or with 1-3oz of lead as your dropper.

Re: Koke Rods
Check out the Daiwa Spinmatics at Fisherman's. I think I got mine for under $30 and they go on sale from time to time as well. I really like the way it loads up with the downriggers and makes it a fun fight with the kokes. Tough to beat for the $$

Re: Koke Rods
Ollie Damon's recently got in some Lamiglas Kokanee rods with hard cases. I believe they are priced right around $70. They also have the new P-Line jigs. 503-232-3193

I saw those Lamiglass Classic Glass Kokanee rods at Fishermans the other day, they looked pretty nice. I'm still gearing up for Koke fishing, but want to give it a try later this year. Would that rod double as a good trout trolling rod also (Hagg Lake Macks with Weddings etc.)? Also what kind of reel would you recommend for Koke Rod (Baitcasting, Spinning)?

Re: Koke Rods
Bi-Mart can order the Spinmatics if they are not on the shelf. For a jigging rod check out the Berkley Taxtic dropshot/finesse.

Re: Koke Rods
I like my little ugly stick for still fishing a lot of the time. Also bought my girlfriend a little Quantam Array that works awesome (I steal it from her from time to time!)

Re: Koke Rods
I have seen a couple Anglers Touch Kokanee rods in Sportsmans from time to time. That would be on my radar for a next purchase at some point. They were designed by Gary Mirales from Shasta tackle company, who is a complete kokonut.

Re: Koke Rods
Shakespeare Synergy for koke trolling. Cheap ($25) at Bi-Mart. I also have 3 of them in 8-15lb for macks and bulls.

Re: Koke Rods
I picked up a Daiwa Spinnmatic and Okuma Celilo Kokanee Special yesterday at Bend Joes...they were 20% off the jacked-up liquidation prices... I had checked Bi Mart and Sportsmans too...I couldn't find BOTH rods at either of those places..and prices were all similar anyway I think (within a couple bucks)
Daiwa as $37 and the Okuma was $33 or something.
