Default Bar View Jetties

Tillamook County is concerned that the jetties at the mouth of Tillamook Bay need to be reinforced. Does anyone have a sense for how this would affect the bay? Would it make the bar worse or better? Would it cause further siltation of the bay? (I've read that all the sand bars in the bay developed after the original jetties were built.) Would it accellerate or reduce the erosion of the beaches north and south of the jetties? Would the project justify the estimaged $100 million price tag?

I have often laughed at the cool "paving" job they did on the north jetty a few years ago. It lasted about one storm. Does anyone know what was behind that and how much it cost?
