Default Solid Steel cylidrical anchor w/ nubs versus pyramid style

Saw one of these online ( 30 lb.s ) and decided to make my own.
I figured 4 inches around by 9 inches long = 32.025 lb,
plus 16 each 2 inch knobs ( 4 spaced 90 degrees apart on either side ) = another 9 lb.s
for a total of 41 lb.s

Any other ideas on dimensions ?

Currently have a 35 lb. lead pyramid achor - less what ever I've dragged off in the river.

I have one of these, I wish it had more tine and less cylinder. It doesn't hold my 19 ft sled very well. I have a 35 lb model.

I have a 65 pound cylindrical anchor with small tines on one end, and a eye welded in the center of the opposite flat end. It has never not held my boat, but I need a strong dude to lift it. It makes me cry every time I do. I'd say stay lower than 45 pounds.

I pull my 45 lber all day but if I back troll alot it gets old by the end of the day. It sure does hold my 16' drift boat very well though.

Go to GI Joes or Bi-Mart to see the different sizes they come in. One thing I have noticed is if they get stuck under a large boulder its a real pain to retrieve it! I have thought of welding a short 2'-3' chain to it (from the bottom like a break-away rocking chair anchor is) and using a zip strip to connect the chain to the top of the anchor so if it does get hung I don't have to bust my b***'s to get it back. And longer spikes (wedge shaped) made out of flat stock may hold better.
Thats my thoughts.

I bought a 36" long 4" diameter steel and made four different anchors. They ranged from 30 to 38 lbs for my driftboat. The 38 # unit is great for high flows. I use the lead one if I need to anchor the front. The biggest problem is those little rods like to poke holes in things in transit.

for driftboat application, I have a 40 with a pulley attached to the anchor and the rope connected to the release arm. Half the weight but twice the length of rope. I use 3/8's " rope, slides through the pulleys better. Try it.

I've seen a few boats with the pulley on the anchor, do you have line twist issues?.
It seems with my 35 lb. pyramid I end up letting out a good 8 to 10 feet to stop the dragging in swifter water...

I store mine in an old milk crate. It keeps the tines from trashing my boat and gear. It looks like Tilla's but larger diameter.
