OC News
I have finally had to turn of the coverage before I scream.. If I hear one more reporter say"Why couldn't they have done this earlier?" I'm gonna burst. The families have stated support for the process so it will be done right. How dare anybody second guess this important of investigation. If it wasn't done EXACTLY right, they could lose a court case. The most obvious thing people are forgetting is the fact that Weaver was only one of MANY people that were being investigated. All that takes time to do it right. Okay, rant off.

Re: OC News
I totaly agree......its easy to complain and finger point,, but if the police make a mistake and the suspect is not convicted,,,then watch the outrage,,,
Complaining and finger pointing is not going to bring the victims back,,, but a good investigation will hold the crook accountable for his actions!

Re: OC News
well said! I get fed up with the media, mainly television, trying to micro-dissect every little tid-bit of information, and than repeating over and over and over. Unless they start finding more bodies or something, this case is closed, let's move on! I'm not saying forget, just move on.

Re: OC News
We just had what most law enforcement agencies involved considered a "slam dunk" of a case concerning a local celebrity and a large bag of marijuanau......and the judge let him walk, without hardly a hassle. That's just one example of the mindset of many Oregon judges, and a HUGE factor in why the OC case progressed the way it did.
I have 2 very good friends in law enforcement agencies in the Clackamas Co. area. Consequently, I get to hear a lot of stuff that other people don't, and I feel very sorry for these people in law enforcement and what they have to deal with.

Re: OC News
It's just sad that maybe this creep could of been caught. The authorities should of been watching him from day one. Especially with his record. At least they could of prevented something, but it sounds like they were'nt even watching him.

Re: OC News
rogue,,, thank you
Ian,,,, my opinion is they were watching him from day one,,,, and if he had has a bad record,, what is he doing out of prison??? Do you have any idea how many people like that are in our communities???
the media knows almost nothing about the investigation that the police do not want them to.
It is important to proceed with an investigation by dotting the I's and crossing the T's, or some defense atty. will find a hole in the case and make a big production out of it , creating a reasonable doubt, which will not result in a conviction....
remember OJ???????

Re: OC News
Good points here and I am also tired of seeing the media try to dictate the progress of this horrible event. I know I had to turn it off, I feel bad for the girls and their families but the media is like vultures constantly probing for the "breaking news". This past Monday I saw a clip about a news reporter getting access to the property and my take was the reporter was trying to make himself look like some type of messenger of good and unreported news while on the same hand discrediting the law enforcement agencies.
These are times when I really can't stand the media

Re: OC News
Rigth on! I can't find any probable cause that would have justified a search warrant before his kid told what he knew. I'm sure thay were paying close attention and he knew it. The scary part is that a guy like that, with that kind of past could be our next door neighbor and we don't know it. The scary part is hearing the other kids saying they felt, even after the disappearances, that he was a "father figure" and they felt safe there. Bundy was like that. Very charming and disarming. The lesson this summer is to be vigilant. Evil can live next door, in Church or be related. Don't be paranoid.... just pay attention and have good long talks with our kids.

Re: OC News
I don't watch network TV news anymore. They try to pump themselves up and make their news more important than it is, or they distort it like they have in the OC case. I would rather read the paper. It seems to be a little more journalistically responsible. This seems to be the case with print media vs. Television media in general although print media has its moments as well.
The thing that isn't getting a lot of press is why Ashley Pond's teacher's report of sexual abuse by this man didn't get any attention. It might have saved both of their lives, yet somebody in enforcement dropped the ball.
