Default Koke Class ---Friday evening request

I just started this kokanee thing last year...and have two trips under my belt for these fish without one hook up to my name. I am very excited about Friday's class and seeing how you guys target these things. And on that note...I would like to make a humble request If i could.....can one of you guys fishing on friday take a picture of your FF when you spot a school of fish that you want to target for jigging? I am a visual learner...and this would help me build my confidence in what I am seeing on the screen!...

until Friday!!....safe travels to all

A lot of the time in the spring, the Kokanee are not schooled up. You will only see scattered fish. Of course there are exceptions! One time at Suttle my depth finder went from 35' to 15', it was a very thick school of Kokanee, how do I know, I pulled out 6 fish in 5 min. before my depth finder returned to 35'. I never did find that school again either!

See you at the class

Good idea. I will try to remember to get a photo like that. In the meantime, here's a nice one. Small school of what looks like kokanee huddled on the bottom in the lower right, edge of a bigger school just showing up along right edge. The rest appear to be mackinaw (cue the Jaws theme music). This is not a normal concentration of macks by the way. Very unusual to see them this tightly schooled. In the words of Aufish 101, "how do I know"....... trust me, at least some of them were mackinaw:0)

Thanks guys.....the "how do I know" quote sounds like my grandfather's view of fishing gadgets. He used to say.."the only fish finder I need is me and the right bait"...
