Probably a region wide thing. I think all you'll need is a picture of the fish with the fly in his mouth.
Just a fun type thing so watch for more details

This little challenge is something I came up with and not sponsored by ifish. Therefore I will be donating the prize for the longest fish.So if you want to donate a prize for aggregate length then we will do a prize for that too.

I am definitely in, and will show anyone around the Owyhee that wants to go play. I might have to visit the South FOrk of the Snake too... PM me or e-mail me if you want to set up a trip.

Check out idafish.com for a pretty Owyhee Brown trout picture...

OK, I've asked this question 3 times, and lost it in the "Threads" transition every time ...

How will we judge fish length from a photo? Should I throw a ruler (I mean YARDSTICK) into my vest to include in the pic, or will you just believe me when I tell you that's a 29" rainbow?

Anyway, count me in. Why not? I intend to C & R trout during that time frame.

Gonna have to be an honor type thing. If someone really wants to cheat then I guess I can't do anything about it.
Just remember you'll have to have a picture of your released unharmed fish in order to be in the running.

I would doubt I'll win it because of my time frame, but it will be fun anyways.

Any ideas or guesses what will take the prize? species and location?

I'll be hitting Coldwater Lake and Merrill Lake. I'm somewhat confident I can get close to the 20" mark at Coldwater Lake. Merrill Lake is my best chance for getting a true "Trout Challenge" contender 24"+.

Where are all the Washington people? As of now there are only 2 and 1/2 of us. I'm starting to think the Or-GON-ers have a monopoly on this challenge.
Also, if any of you Oregon guys would like to volunteer as an observer on board my boat to verify my challenge winning fish, let me know.

Are there any gatherings planned around this? i.e. We (two people) are going to this place on Saturday the 15th, etc...

I might need someone nearby to hold the tail while I get it under the belly.

Default Please note changes in rules

I made a few changes in the original rules so please read them again.I am excluding Lake Trout or Mackinaws and brood trout like you find in some lakes around here.Brood trout are easy to identify by there worn fins.
You'll need a picture of your fish posted here on the fly board.

Just to refresh everyones memories here are the trout that I am including in this event
Rainbows (steelhead excluded)
Brook
Brown
Cutthroat
Bull
Please remember that CATCH and RELEASE is the key in this challenge.
This trout challenge is not an ifish sponsored event and I will be supplying the prize for the winning fish.

The Kid is in. But does the person verifying the fish have to be an Ifisher?
Since this is catch and release only your fish is going to have to be verified with a picture of your fish!!!It would be pretty easy to cheat on this challenge but in the long run is it really worth it?
