Default Guide for Metolius

Hey, I want to know if there is a good guide or two out there to get to really know the Metolious with a friend of mine. He's from South Africa and loves to fly fish and I have hit the Metolius lots and caught little. Any names and numbers?

I'd give the camp sherman store a call. They can hook you up.

Last I've heard, there are no guides or guiding allowed on the Metolius.

That is correct. The USFS does not issue guiding permits (or for that matter any commercial use permits) on the Metolius.

The only possible option is the private water of the 'House on the Metolius'. At times, there have been persons who would guide their guests. However, HOM seems to be undergoing some changes and it's unclear whether they're still accepting guests at all.

Best bet is to try to call them directly, or inquire at the Camp Sherman Store.

Hi, Pittsburgh...try johnjudyflyfishing.com click on the 'fishing reports' button. Everything you'll need to know. John lives on the river, guides on the Deschutes.

Thanks, I'll peek in. I don't need the full meal deal, just direction. I have the gear. Thanks again.

I'm hooking up with J&J to find out. Great info. I may just set up a day trip on the D anyway. They sound above all.

Any experience with spending the extra coin for them?
