Default Sandy River Field Test - Steelhead Fly Swap

Well, I gave a couple of the flies a field test on the Sandy River Saturday for a few hours. Got once nice jerk on Salmonslayer2's Callabero but the fish did not stick :depressed: . I like that pattern - small w/ the green/pink combo and a bit of flash. Seemed perfect for the clear, but high water conditions. Tried swinging the McShrimpy - that fly sure stands out.

Anyway, missing one fish is a good day winter steelheading in my book. I ended up spending most of the time soaking a small glo bug - the only pattern I have got a winter fish on (and only 1 fish at that) - and the one I fish most confidently.

Don't worry - will get to trying the other flies (though Springer fever is starting to set in) - many look like great summer run patterns or more appropriate for a little more color in the water.

I'm glag you had a jerk on my fly. I have had my best luck on that fly for winter fish. I may try the alsea or Lake creek tomorrow after I go to the dentist.
Good luck Larry

I donated a couple to the Wilson yesterday... good attractor patterns for low-hanging trees. Been pretty focused on learning other fishing methods this winter and was reminded how much fun it is to cast flies. lnf
