Default Lbc 4/11

Took FRG's advice and hit LBC with the intention of hitting Suttle after we got our fish. Well it was not as easy as the last time I was out a couple weeks ago. Tried jigging first, no love for kokes, did hit a little bull. Then trolled for awhile and finally picked up one koke. Was not getting the action that I anticipated and the wind picked up so we ran up by the cabins and tried jigging. NO Luck! Moved down closer to perry south and saw some jumpers and marked some fish. Dropped anchor and started tossing some jigs. Did hit a little hot bite by casting the jig as far as I could and very quickly snap jigging it back to the boat. Picked up 5 that way in about 20 minutes then the action stopped. Went back to trolling and finally put the last four in the boat just down from the turn into perry south. Most trolling fish came on an orange UV apex.

Took alot longer than I thought it would to get the fish so the Suttle run was out. But it was a great time and I think my Dad is definitely hooked on this koke thing. Looking forward to getting back out but will have to work around some turkey hunting! Would love to hear if anyone hit Suttle.

We hit LBC early this morning as well. Started off trolling herring around the island. After loosing a couple of setups (including Lisa's trolling rod suddenly becoming a 3 piece rod) , I switched to the AC Plug that Jimmy gave me last week. After about 15 minutes my rod starting bouncing and I thought, "Oh crap, hung up again." I grabbed the rod out of the holder and it wasn't the bottom!! I threw the kicker in neutral and the fight was on. In a few minutes, the fish was close and I had to take few moments to calm Lisa down to make sure she didn't knock the fish off or loose the net, she was really excited! The fish made a run under the boat and I quickly turned it around and Lisa scooped him up!

One more shot.

I didn't get a measurement on the fish, he was up for a couple photos and released.

We trolled most of the day and ran up by the summer homes and tried to find some Kokanee, to no avail. We trolled back towards Perry South and Lisa picked up a 16" bull on a shad-rap. The wind started to pick up and that was the day.

Thanks again Jimmy!!!!

Nice bull Russ. And it only cost you 3 lures and a rod.
Where did you hide all the kokanee?

Russ,

Congrats on a nice looking Bull. Those new AC lures have been catching some nice fish this year. I hope to use the jigs I got from you at Crescent in a couple of weeks.

Two of us fished for kokes 4/11 AM.
It took us about 2-1/2 hours to get our ten.
Wasted some of that time jigging.
Red wedding rings, 1 oz banana weights in front of a dodger, 18 pulls did the trick.
Considering that we lost a few, it was quite entertaining.
Didn't really need the down-riggers.

Chukardave,

Thanks for the report. Tricky silvery devils...you never you what you are going to get. I am glad you made it out with your dad and you were able to get some fish. You made the right choice going to LBC as Suttle was dead last weekend.

Russ, nice fish even if it did cost you a rod.

Thanks for the updates and reports guys. Nice job on the bulls, Russ. Looks like things have switched around a little since the fest. Hot kokes/slow bulls has gone the other way at least for now. Hopefully it'll all come together for a while before the bull trout action tapers down some for the summer. I need to bust a hole in the obligation schedule sometime this month and get back over to Perry South for a couple of days!
