No gadgets, troutflies, gift certificates, only steelhead flies you tied. Everyone please get back to me with what pattern you want to tie, I'll post it on here. If you plan to tie a weighted pattern, say so.
Does this sound OK to everyone? I'll tie a Polar Shrimp.

Ok thanks Stew.
TWO spots left. Speak up and get to tying!
Don't worry about tying an extra. If someone misses the deadline, I'll keep the leftovers. If not, it's all good.

Re: Winter Steelhead Fly Swap
First three fly's took 2hrs. to tie and almost a trip to the hospital(in one of those little white jackets). Last 15 fly's took just about as long(just kidding). My new moto: "What I lack in style and looks, I make up for in glue." But something can be said for 15 fly's that look similar, if not alike. Oh yeah, and the stress if off, I actually have something to mail. So where should I send these fly's? I'm going to insure them for $300, because the amount of stress and fear of having to produce them again is worth it. I will say that tying the same fly over and over really helps develop the basic skills in tying. The other fly's I'm tying now look a lot more buggy, and a lot less foo-fooie.
Thanks for the chance to partake.

Re: Winter Steelhead Fly Swap
Thanks Riverkeeper, my fly is a no-name I created, call it "Stevo's Pink and White".
Also, everyone should include an extra fly for riverkeeper for running the swap.
Thanks

Sure, I'm in. How about a "Brad's Brat". A fitting name, huh. This swap should be a fun one.

Riverkeeper,
Flies are in the mail. Plain brown paper wrapper. Oh, sorry that is my other shipment. 15 shooting stars (actually, everything I tie is a variant) due to touch down around the 14th.

Alright... Riverkeeper is one persuasive fellow. If there is still room, count me in. WARNING: I am an absolute beginner. Everything I know about tying flies I learned from Kodiakfisher on a Sat. afternoon. .

GBS,
So, will this be the classic "Brad's Brat" or will this be a new pattern inspired by your kid?

Super Mohair Leech
the fly
I will try
to tie
Since this is my first attempt at tying (unless you count the glo-bug Kodiakfisher taught me), the 12th fly may look quite different than the first.

Re: Winter Steelhead Fly Swap
GBS - Warning, I thought I'd just drop off my fly's the other day when I was in the area. Darian lives in an elevated maze of a neighborhood. Once I got within 10 blocks I decided I'd just mail my fly's to him rather than spending all afternoon driving around and not asking for directions. "Oh, this street doesn't go through either!"

Re: Winter Steelhead Fly Swap
Interesting comments on trying to find Riverkeepers place. I did the same thing yesterday and finally after the second pass and deciding to chance it, came up with GOLD! there he was, hiding in his hidden house! Cool looking place! His driveway is the street! Sneeky neighborhood!

So much for the Federal Witness Protection Program. Now we'll have to assign Riverkeeper a new Ifish name and river to call home. What should we name him and where should we send him?

Re: Winter Steelhead Fly Swap
I think he lives there so he can take out all the cute jogger chicks that run by coming from Tabor park. I tell my wife to never run past that creepy house of his.
Sorry I had to run last night Darian, that boy of mine had me against the ropes until 10pm. errrgh!
Hope you like the patriot!

Re: Winter Steelhead Fly Swap
I just had to oversee two office building moves at work, but thankfully they are done and the flys will be tied and sent by this weekend. (even if I have to tie and watch the superbowl!) I have changed my fly to something I will call a McShrimpy...experimenting with another braided fly.

Re: Winter Steelhead Fly Swap
Yes! That last braided fly was too purdy to fish with.
Reminder-- I don't mean to split hairs here, but you guys who forgot to include postage owe me a cold one at a future get together. For the rest of you, please include a STAMPED ENVELOPE. End of tirade.
Oh wait. Also please write your moniker on the package somewhere so I know who is who (whom is whom?)

Re: Winter Steelhead Fly Swap
My wife called first on the purple and green one. :depressed: She laughed at that orange shrimp like thing. She is sleeping on the couch tonight.
She thinks she is going to get the little purple and black one also but she isn't.
Nice job BTW, can't wait for the next one! Maybe get some trout patterns before spring.
