Question Chicahominy

Any word on the water level and if it is fishable yet? Anxious to go give it a try again this year.

2nd hand report from last weekend.... Water was fairly low and dirty. Lady at the store said that some bait fisherman had brought in some nice fish (over 20")

I too am considering a trip there from La Pine, probably around Apr 20th. I was also wondering how conditions were. Last summer when I was there, we bank fished with power bait,& sliding sinkers. Didn't do too well, but it was near a full moon. That combo usually works well.

Maybe someone will give it a try and give an update on conditions. Hope so.

Was over there last weekend (sooner than I like to go). Water very low for this time of year (Narrows are pretty much dry), 2" of visibility, and water was 41*. Heard that there was a die-off late last Summer, and from what we experienced I have to believe that might be true. Did explore several other desert waters though....but that's another story.

Doesn't sound like good fishing. This may be a bad year for Chicahominy.

Thanks for the update.

First week of May for us, hopefully the wind will be nice, it seems everytime we stop in there the wind is blowing, last year in late April we stopped on the way to Brownlee, & it was too windy to fish, on the way back in early May it was nice so we put the boat in, no sooner than we put in the wind picked up, we did manage to catch a few nice fish before the wind made fishing unplesant.

Me and my son went over first weekend of spring break and did well for the small amount of time we fished, went to explore and look for rabbits and decided to base out of Chicahominy. Caught many fish in the 16-18" range from the bank near the dam. Weather turned bad so we left early.

Fished today for about five hours. Lake is very low, visibility was about 4" and marked very few fish on the fish finder, wind wasn't terrible. No fish and no bites.
