Fly Deal Flys
I'll probably get hammered for this, but I'm curious nonetheless - has anyone ever order flies from the fly deals web site? If so, any comments on quality, etc.?

Re: Fly Deal Flys
Well, I didn't want to get into trouble talking about a vendor that's not a sponsor. Got to be careful with that you know.
Take me fishing and I'll let you use it all you want.

Re: Fly Deal Flys
I wanted to thank you for being thoughtful about ifish's rules.
Even though it's Christmas time, there are still sponsors that we need to watch for, and it's really nice of you to be sensitive to that.
Although we are trying to loosen up on that a bit, we are still unsure of how far to go as yet.
Again, thanks for your sensitivity in the matter.

Re: Fly Deal Flys
Well, I wanted to find out if anyone had any experience with this company and I didn't want my post to get axed. Since they sell flies for $7.00 per dozen...At that price I'd rather buy than tie some of those time consuming bugs.
I'm also, like others who have posted elsewhere, fishing for the line....when discussing companies that are not sponsors, what's permissible to include in posts and what's not.

Re: Fly Deal Flys
I've ordered a couple times from Hill's Discount Flies. Super fast and friendly service and the flies are, well, flies... standard Asian fare.
Mod's, since we don't have a fly sponsor per se, how about approaching Jim Hill. He seems like a nice guy and seems to run a respectable business. Plus, it is high time we had some ready, set, fly stuff contests (of course Stew could just donate some of his). What the heck, go for the moon... ask him to donate the Guide shop in Montana he has for sale... we need a place for our gettogethers. Respectfully yours, lnf

Re: Fly Deal Flys
Giz is right, though.. You can talk and share about any product. Only contact information at this time is reserved for sponsors.
We don't have any fly sponsors right now.
We need some! Shane, why don't you go into the fly biz?

Re: Fly Deal Flys
I tie my own usually, and I haven't order flies from them, but like Lilnorthfork, I have orderd a couple of times from Hills Discount Flies. Great deals, friendly people, but you get what you pay for.
Most of the flies are Ojust fine, but get your Emergent Sparkle Pupas somewhere else. Their's are tied with too thick of a bubble.

Re: Fly Deal Flys
$7.00 per dozen?
Is that a 'good' price? I can tie about 2 dozen trout dries in a hour, maybe I should start a business lol

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">I too can tie dries pretty quicly. Ah, but can you crank out 2 dozen Kaufmann Stones in an hour? As I said before at $0.58 per fly is a steal, depending on quality of course...thus the reason I started this thread. But I would be more than happy to buy them from YOU or any other iFisher at this price.
Hey, it might be fun to get a buch of iFish fliy tiers together for a friendly speed tying compeition. Just decide on one pattern and size with a materials list that everyone must use, give everyone about a month to prepare and storm a pub with tying gear in hand....hmmm????

Re: Fly Deal Flys
ORS: a fun competiton is a blind folded contest. Tiers are blindfolded after laying out materials to tie a given fly. Did this at our flyclub picnic as a fun activity.

Re: Fly Deal Flys
I have used them a couple of times and was happy with the product. usually go in with someone else as the minimums are more flies than I need in a size, etc...
