Default Rainshadow Fly Blanks

I did some searching of the archives on this board and another and I came up with some info, but not much. I know people like these blanks for casting and spinning rods.

Does anyone here have experience with flyrods built on Rainshadow blanks? I am looking at building a 10' or 10.5' for 6 wt. They have an Rx8 higher end series and an Rx7 series. Any experience would be appreciated. If no one has any, I'll take one for the team and build the rod, then report back.

I have a number of rs rods. I like them and have been parting with my other brand rods. I love my 1141 and have hooked springer salmon up to 23 lbs and many sh sidedrifting. The cost of the rods make them very affordable.

I have not tried the fly rods yet, although, I had one built for me.Unfortunately, I am selling it as I have about 20 fly rods and most are now sitting due to my back problems.

For the price, I would try one. I think if you contact BOE, you can get a kit to build at a reasonable price. Would make a great xmas present.

A few sources have told me that the RX7 model 9'6" #6 is really a #7 in disguise, but that the 10' #6 is better matched to a #6 due to having a softer butt section. And that these rods run a little heavier than the most expensive blanks, so that in long lengths it can be a little taxing to fish all day.

No idea about RX8

TH built me a 3 piece 8wt using the R8X blank. I've only used it twice and have not been fortunate to catch anything. It's a moderatly fast rod and I really like the way it feels. Not much info to go on, but thats about all I can tell you.
