Default Fasteners & Corrosion and Isolating Dis-similar Metals

I want to reduce the chance of corrosion.

What product do you use to isolate stainless steel bolts when you're installing them thru an aluminum hull?

Thanks!

There are a lot of ways to keep them apart. If you are installing in a unpainted hole.
Paint the hole first with zinc chromate paint. let it dry
next if you can buy them, use bolts that are anodized. Aluminum does not
re act to anodize. next if you can not get anodizes stainless fasteners.
use the best grade of stainless you can get. now that you have all the best hardware.
As you are putting everything together, apply a faying surface
seal under the washer that is next to the surface or the aluminum you are
bolting to. do this between each part. and at the end, apply a fillet seal
to the stack. this keeps water and the salts from getting in the stack.
This is how aircraft part are put together.
The sealant is the most important part. A good grade of RTV is OK.
But a rubber type sealant is best. Hope this helps.

I have had really good luck simply using clear silicone. Cheap and effective.
