Default Another flyfisher

Hello folks, my name is Rick, I've posted a few times on the main board, & there is a story there, ..but the co-star, chinookie, was not hooked on a fly, with a little luck the next one will be......
Got into fishing later than most, around 35, Turned on to fishing with flies when I watched a small trout stream come alive during a heavy spinner fall,..... as I sat there with my useless rainbow colored powerbait  All those trout sipping in them little spent mayflys turned on a light, opening my eyes to this great sport. that afternoon changed alot of things, including personal relationships & my bank account
I prefer to have a flyrod in my hand when fishing, although depending on who ur talking too ya can't always call it "flyfishing" that's OK, for me, it's about choices, & that subject gets pounded on most fly BB's...So... I'm not a "purist". All I do know for sure is the feeling I get when on the water, absorbed by the surroundings, totally engaged in the presentation and anticipation. It sounds a little corny, but time seems to stand still ...(as with any addiction, it helps to talk about it, right...
I'm new this beautiful state and am looking forward to exploring it's waters. I hope to learn and share in this community, and get to meet and fish with some of you.

Keepem tight

welcome to Oregon and Ifish. You'll be knee deep in a beautiful trout stream before you know it, Entertained by the antics of "team no-bull".
Don't hesitate to post any questions you might have about this place, and the sweet fish that swim here. There's no place like it!
Where are you from?
Tight lines!

Thanks for the welcomes,
for those who asked, I moved to Coos Bay from Flagstaff, the small stream I spoke of was Oak Creek near Sedona. Prior to Az I lived in San Jose and Santa Cruz.

Rip Lips,
I've had a blast on the Main Stem Umpqua for shad & smallmouth bass. Hoping Santa brings a Pontoon so I can do some easy floats as I endevor to learn the fine art of river running,
maybe the John Day this summer and some of the high mountain lakes, my list is getting really, really long.....of course that all comes after the Steeleees.....then Springers....Man ain't this a great part of the planet!

How bout you?

Is that the Oak Creek in the canyon with the super natural water slide? If it is, we stopped there on a x-country family trip from NY to Cali in '78. We played in that canyon from sun up to sun down. Lots of great memories on that trip including catching trout in the firehole and coming face-to-face, for the first time in my life, with a bull moose (there have been other times since, but that was my first). Flagstaff is a cool town. Glad to have you aboard. lnf

Yes, now known as Slide Rock state park, definately a hoot... that little stream has some of the most beautiful wild browns, last I heard it was getting a C&R designation, hope so...
Flagstaff was a nice place to live, with the Grand canyon & Colorado R/Lees ferry in ur back yard, although at 7000' the winters are too cold for my blood.
I have not experienced a face to face with a bull moose, but I would guess it leaves a simular color in ur skivies as a Brown & her cub, don't care to do that again soon...

Rick:
Welcome to Oregon and Ifish! I think that you could fish in Oregon every week(or more) for the rest of your life, and never see the same water twice. Enjoy!
