Default Another Fly rod question

My girlfriend just moved out here, and I am trying to get her into flyfishing. Any ideas for how much I should spend on a rod, or anyone got an ideal rod to sell. I just dont want to go blow a bunch of money on a rod she might not even use, or buy something that is to cheap. Ideas?

For a beginner Cabela's has some reasonable combo's (Three Forks) for $59.99. Comes with rod, reel, backing, and line. These combo's fish really well. My Brother-in-Law bought one for my nephew to learn on, and then bought another as a back-up rod. I've fished the darned thing several times and it is really pretty nice. I'm a guy with about a dozen fly rods, many I built myself, and I'm not trading one of my customs for a Three Forks combo. The price, quality, and customer service are all right on the money with this deal though.

I'll second the Cabela's Three Forks, but stay away from the sixty dollar kit with the graphite reel. Spend the extra twenty bucks (totals a whopping $79.99) for the Three Forks Prestige kit. You end up with a Cabela's labeled Okuma Sierra as the reel, a MUCH better setup.

I've bought my 12 year old two of these - the 8'6" 5wt (learned about the graphite reel with that one) and the 7'6" 3wt (got the Prestige/Sierra reel kit...) and they are both terrific rods.

call up fisherman's in oregon city and see what kind of setups they have certain price points. i sent my cousins there to find their first setups, and they still use them for certain fish. you might want to give them a jingle and see what they have to offer. BTS

Gus is right about the reel. I was trying to save you a few bucks, but the upgrade is worth it!

I'll third the cabela's combo with the upgrade. Although especially for the beginner, and reel realy just holds line. Check the used board, there may be some used rods and reels for sale.
Watch out for her casting abilities! I taught my wife and she kicks butt over alot of the dudes.
