Default Need help with my first set-up

I'm getting back into fishing for the first time since I was a young man. I have 3-year old twin boys, and I'm determined to learn as much as I can by the time they're 5! I did a lot of fishing growing up and throughout college; however my career and family building pulled me away from it. Not any more.

We are blessed to own a home in Duvall; sandwiched between the Snoqualmie, Tolt, Snohomish, and Skykomish rivers. I'm looking to put together (purchase) a nice steelhead/trout setup, but I'm not sure what size rod and what reel characteristics (and line test) I should consider.

You can PM me with specific brands, but to honor the rules of the forum, what do you guys suggest would be a good combo set up for steelhead and trout fishing here in the Snoqualmie Valley? I'll eventually get into fly fishing, but first things first.

Steelhead any thing line rating 6-20.. Is prop ok.. I got a 6-12 and 10-20 and everything in the middle hehehe..

Trout if your bank fishing I like about 6 ft and really light... For reels Sedona's, Sahara are my favorite I think they are both right around 50 $...
Line I like stren 6 lb pretty tuff and you can be amazed by how far you can cast this stuff..

I would start with a spinning rod 8 1/2 to 9 ft and a spinning reel in 1500 to 2500 seires load it up with 12lb mono and go fishing watch others around you that are being successful and ask questions also use the search mode on ifish all your questions will be ansered ... Good luck!!!

you might want to think about two seperate setups, one for steelhead and the other for trout. of course you can always set one pole up for both, i have a trout pole (8 ft) that i use all the time for rainbows and steelhead, it has 8lb line which does fine if you can play some of the bigger steelies.
