Default Wading Jacket?

Thinking of getting a good water-proof wading jacket. Anybody have one they like or don't like? Anybody familiar with the Redington Q-Nimbus? They stopped making it but I see them around for a pretty good price. Thanks. lnf

My old Columbia Widgeon parka and a Stormy Seas inflatable vest is hard to beat. I like floating. Sinking is a bummer, especially in the winter.

Thanks Greenbutt. I picked up the discontinued Reddington Q-Nimbus on e-bay brand new for $77. It should be here this week so I can test it on the coast before heading to the Crooked. Saw one in a shop the other day... $225.
Gotta love e-bay.

I've got a Helly Hanson wading jacket that I love.

I bought it at the outlet in Seaside or Lincoln City for $25.00

Gortex and waterproof (oxymoron ?)

Good luck!

If you are looking for deals on ff clothing, check out the Columbia sportswear outlets. There are 2 in portland. One is a couple of blocks e. of the Selwood bridge and the other is Lake O. Check both as the coat I got that Stew references was on sale in Lake O for about $75. I paid $90 at Selwood (yep took the $90 one back.)

It is cut for ff with big pockets and seems like a good coat. It is made of their Omnitek material.

I've got the patagonia SST wading jacket and love it, although I forgot it the last time out and got soaked. It's not cheap though. I paid wholesale otherwide the reddington is nice, and columbia makes a decent wading jacket too. Cabela's even makes a really nice wading jacket for about 100.00, it's a good one also.

I have the Simms Guide jacket. Got it pro deal, so retail it's a bit steep, but well worth it. Full gortex, nice neoprene hidden cuffs on the arms, two large front pockets, two inside pockets that are accessible without unzipping the main zipper, fleece lined hand pockets, a couple of D rings for clipping whatever onto, and the hood folds down into a collar for when the rain stops. Patagonia also has new jacket out that is supposed to ge nice. I also have an Patagonia SST that the girlfriend wears. It is very comporable to the Simms, but the Simms just noses out the SST.
