I finally got some time to try steelheading on the Deschutes this last weekend. I was amazed to see how many dedicated fisherman were in every hole I wanted to try.

Oh, well its the experience that counts right. I didn't have any luck with that, but I did hook into some nice redsides in the middle of the day on drys. So that took some of the sting out. Talking with my life long friend John Smeraglio at Deschutes Canyon Fly Shop, he said the numbers are showing that it has been an average year and that the fish are throughout the river. Just my luck. I get stung with the bug last year and fewer fish show up. what is that all about. Now, if I can just win the big one so I can have more time to fish.
