Hey congratulations David!

Sorry to hear about the line, but that kind of thing is to be expected with chinook. They tend not to play well with others! You realize you've just done the most addictive thing possible, right? I appreciate the thanks, but you only have yourself to blame!
I have broken a couple lines--usually in the tip section, though. Generally it's been after a lot of stress, i.e., multiple fish over several seasons. And, I'm talking about 10 weight lines too. So far the best line for durability I have found has been the Scientific Anglers Mastery Steelhead line. I cut them up and make a custom interchangeable tip line--using braided loops, tying floss, and Aqua Seal. They'll generally last several seasons of some pretty hard use. And, I like being able to match my sink-tip to the exact conditions I fish--sometimes to a particular hole even.
Good luck. Oh, and try not to get frustrated by losing fish. It's not unusual to take a couple seasons to actually bank one. After all, if it were easy, everyone would do it, right?
