Default Upper North Fork Lewis River (info needed)

Has abone fished above the dams (swift, merwin, yale)on the upper north fork of the lewis? can you wade or do you need a pontoon boat? is there good public access? is it an easy drift for a pontoon, is there any whitewater to be concerned with? what's the average size trout up there? what mile markers are good areas? Is fall a good time to fish there?

The upper NFL has a lot of wading access. The entire river is on national forest land. An average fish is 10"-12". There are some much bigger fish around. Fall can provide decent fishing, but the skinny water can make it tough. July-August are my favorite times up there. There is good fishing from Swift all the way up to its headwaters. I would suggest getting a GPNF map and start exploring.

trout chaser, thanks for the reply. plan on scouting it out this weekend. will try walk-in wading instead of bringing my pontoon boat.
