warm springs report

any stellhead seen here yet? when is the best time to hit this area for steelies?

We hooked one on thursday but lost it(we were trout fishing) on friday we hooked and landed a 6lb native while trout fishing. I talked to one person who had been camping on the river 4 days and had only hooked one Steelhead and that group were targeting Steelhead. I think in about 2 weeks there should be some good numbers of fish in the WS-TC area,tight lines,brian

I know I could check but I'll be lazy. Is the reservation and any waters above now open. It was closed for several years.

The river is open for clipped steelhead. Along the Warm Springs reservation, with permit, steelhead are open until October 31st.

Sorry about that pete you said along the res.and i didnt know you ment the res. side of the river.I fish that alot every fall. Again sorry for the misunderstanding. hd

No problem, HD. Certainly the east bank is open across from the Res. It is a little strange to have two jurisdictions with different regulations on the same body of water.

I was thinking of heading to Warm Springs tomorrow to chase steelhead. Any thoughts or recent reports? Just wondering if I should hit the Maupin area or lower instead.
