Default Ridgfield

Elwix and I went out of this launch on Sunday. When we arrived I was suprised to see that the floating day dock was gone and the launching dock was half as long as before. The steel I beams are still there though. I sure hope that they get that replaced soon. In a couple of weeks there will be trailers parked above on the street five blocks away and I know a bunch of us have fishing partners who do not back a trailer nor drive a boat. It is going to be quite a lesson in patience I tell you!

It looked to me like they pulled the old wood posts out and drove new steel ones in. When I bought my parking pass at the port; they said the ramp might be closed for two days while they repair it.....Ross

They pulled it out a couple weeks ago.(iirc)

I'll tell you what, pulling into the dock on the upriver side with a down river wind almost put us into the metal piling.

I understand they will put it back together in a few weeks.

About the middle of springer season.

Phone the Port of Ridgefield (who owns the ramp) and complain loudly! 360-887-3873. They are fully funded by district property taxes and are operating a ramp already paid for with federal and state funds. At $5.00 per day (the highest in the area) they should at least provide adequate parking and a decent dock. Finally, unlike most government, they do not offer disabled or senior citizen discounts.
I was there today and nobody was working on the site.

Patience and courtesy get very short at this ramp and then top it with the $fee. That's why I travel to others, when Ridgefield ramp is the closer for me. I can be home by the time it takes to get my spot in line.
My understanding is they plan on increasing parking??

Along with repairing the ramp at the dock, and replacing the day dock. They are or atleast according to the city of Ridgefield going to increase the parking. all the way over to the kayacker's ramp (the unimproved one) along with adding some day use facilities (picnic tables).
But I can't say when it's to be done cause I thought it was supposed to start in Nov '03 and be finished Feb. '04 but they only got started 2 weeks ago. oh well it should be better by Aug.
