Default NR Seahawk batteries

I have a friend who owns a NR Seahawk and can not figure out how to remove the 2 batteries for service. He is mechanically handicapped and ask me to seek sage advice on this forum.

Why do they need to be serviced? Should be able to do everything in place w/out pulling them out like charging and checking water levels. Assuming they need water.

I have a 2005 seahawk it is veryy difficult to service the batteries as they are placed very high up in the rear of the boat it is impossible to check the water levels without removing them. What I do once a season is remove the wires from each terminal one at a time zip lock them together and label it with a piece of tape *** or neg if you have more than one battery also mark left or right side do this for both or all four posts if you have two batterys. It is a good ideaa to do this once a year to check for corrosion especially if you use it in the Salt. I also mark the batterys front left and front right maybe I am a bit anal but I am sure to get everything back in the right spot which is inportant when you have a battery switch like I do. I did replaace my batterys with gel batterys this year and atleast I don't have to worry about water levels any more.

I am not mechanically challenged but the first time I took mine out it was a bit of a trick. I can't remember for sure which side to tip first but if his are as mine are on my 2002 the battery posts will barely clear the top of the compartment. I think I slid the battery all the way forward with the posts on the side towards the outside of the compartment. You then tip the battery forward until the post clear the outside of the compartment and then lift it out. It's either that or the posts are on the back side and you slide the bottom out first and then tip it so the posts clear. The long and short of it is the posts either come out first or last. Hope that answers it for you.

Well I'd get new batteries that don't require maintenance then that's for sure. My Seahawk is an IO so I can pull the batteries out in about 30 seconds.
