Steve,
I had a great time with Jay and Mark that day. Talk about a tough Chore though to get fish out of the Clack on a Sunny Sunday when we started at 11 am and the parking lot was full of trailers and there were sleds every where and the fish were spooked to high heaven. We had fun and caught some fish as well. Missed a few others. I can't wait to get Luke in on some salmon and shad fishing.

Default Clackamas Steelhead Pic

A co-worker from our company's San Jose office called me, and wanted to go fishing on Sunday, since he is flying up here for some training. I'm unable to take him on Sunday, as I have prior plans at church. I sent an email to Joe Salvey of Fish Hawk Adventures, because my friend is absolutely dying to catch a salmon and/or steelhead. It was a late notice, so I didn't know if Joe had room, but Joe came through, and worked all the details out. Joe is one class act.

Here's my friend Jay with his first ever steelhead, he's not excited, it he?
 Keep in mind, Jay is about 6 feet 4 inches tall.

Jay tells me that the river that day was real slow. But Jay also caught two steelhead! One was a bigger nate, and prompted released to do it's duties.

Thanks Joe for giving Jay a great fishing day! He just couldn't quit talking about it yesterday. His flies back today.

SKP

For what it's worth, and it least for me...sometimes it's better to be out there in the afternoon, after the "racers" and joy riders have left. Things are alot more peaceful at 3-6 p.m. than from 6-11 a.m.
