What time do the gates at Battle Ground Lake open in the morning?

Default Battle Ground Lake

Fished it this weekend with a friend. We were both on our float tubes and each caught our limit easily. Trusty beaded nymph with both floating and sinking line...along the shore line..in the thinket of underwater trees. I also trolled a spinner with my spinning rod and slammed a few nice fish... There was a guy in a rubber raft trolling a worm...no flashers...just a hook. 2 split shots and a threaded worm...He nailed a 5lb 22inch hold over rainbow...man it was a nice fish. There are plenty of fish around, everywhere...get out there and get some!!

The park officially opens at 6:30am..but if you are camping there you can fish anytime the suns up! I was there that day waiting at 6...and the ranger came and opened it at 6:10...so I was able to get in without waiting arround. I does cost $5 per vehicle..FYI. Good luck...troll it deep for the biggin's...average deep depth is 35ft. or troll a sinking line...with your favorite fly.

Fished battleground last night......pretty slow.
Used my favorite...1/16th oz jig head with a piece of a berkley power work, caught 4 in 2 hours, all very small 10 inchers.

I've only ever caught one nice trout out of here. 3.2lb trolling an orange rooster tail. All other fish have been the cookie cutter 10-12 inchers.

Any advice on how to get the lunkers?

I've never fished it in the summer , but Jan.-Mar. a 3-4inch flatfish/flourescent orange works wonders!
Sorry not with the fly subject but I am only able to cast a flyline into knots :depressed:

I haven’t fished BG Lake in the summer in quite some time. When I did, I caught a nice fish now by getting out on the lake as early as possible (before the swimmers). If you’re spinning I’d recommend drifting along the shoreline and casting small roostertails around the fallen logs.
If you’re new to fly fishing, but want to try, I’d recommend SLOWLY trolling an olive leech, or a wooly bugger on a sinking line parallel to the shore.
I also had some luck drifting along the shoreline and casting damsel nymphs right at the shore, and swimming them back slowly.
Early morning on that lake was always better for me in the summer than afternoons. In fact, I usually gave up on the lake by 10 am. Good luck.
