I fished the North Umpqua on Friday evening, July 18. I did not see a fish, but I saw a lot more fishers than three weeks earlier, the last time I fished there. The guy at the fly shop along the river said there were a few fish being caught at dawn, mostly in the upper river sections around Steamboat area, maybe because the water is cooler there, and maybe because more people were fishing there.

I assume the presence of more fishers means there must also be some fish in the river.
