Default N. Santiam Fly Fishing

Is there any good water this time of year on the N. Santiam for a 10 ft. pontoon? I'm looking for some short float trips for fly fishing to do after work. I work near Stayton. Thanks in advance.

If you want a short drift with some nice steelhead water, drift from Fishermans Bend to Mehama bridge. You could even do this drift in the late afternoon and not be rushed to get to the take-out. Your 10ft pontoon boat should work great. There is some technical rapids, but nothing heavy.

There have been plenty of fresh fish the last couple weeks in this drift.

I drifted from the pull out just before Fishermen's Bend to North Santiam State Park yesterday with my son, no fishing, just checking the raft out, and it was a pretty easy drift. You shouldn't have any problems. We scraped bottom a few times, but it was a pretty nice.

Thanks for the info you guys. That's awesome. We stopped by Fishermans Bend today on the way back from the lake just to check it out. Two nice steelies were caught right before we got there. I know that one was caught on a blue fox spinner. So a few surface also. I'm gonna try it Monday afternoon.
