Imnaha?
My wife and I are headed over to Wallowa lake tomorrow and are going to make a day trip down to the Imnaha river while we're there. We're going to park down at the Cow Creek bridge and hike down to the Snake. Along the 5 mile stretch down to the Snake I want to throw some fly's into the Imnaha.....
I know grasshopper patterns will work well, any other suggestions? Anybody fished down there lately?
Thanks!

Re: Imnaha?
I'd also bring some tan elk hair caddis, small stimulators, black ants, and some bigger bunny leech patterns or large streamers. There are bull trout in there too, big ones.

Re: Imnaha?
Good suggestions, thanks. Your post reminded me of some large streamers and white bunny leaches a friend tied up for me a while back to use on the Metolius.
Thanks again!

Re: Imnaha?
If you would like to try something a little different. Use your fly rod to catch a bass after you get to the Snake River. You could be in for a pleasant surprise. Two or three pound bass witll put up a good fight. You'll forget all about trout fishing.

Re: Imnaha?
Thanks Okie, you're right, the Snake is full of bass. I've flyfished for them before in other places and it is fun.

Re: Imnaha?
Where's My Bobber, don't know if you have been on the Imnaha trail to the Snake river or not so could be telling you something you all ready know. My qualifcations is that I worked at the Lewiston Telehone Office and traveled Hells Canyon with a out board engine before it was full of all the restrictions it now has. And know the area very well.
Do take plenty of drinking water or a water purifier. It will be very hot in the canyon this time of year. A good hat for sun protection would help and sun glasses. The area is known as Eureka Bar and has a history that is very interesting. Old mines and foundation for mill are there today. There is much more but I won't write any more. You can research it out if you want to know more.
