Default Sharkskin line

Hey I was wondering if any of you guys have had the chance to try out the new Sharkskin line from SA. I see its a bit spendy, but was wondering if you guys had any experience that would justify purchasing it over another less expensive line.

Thanks

Get a rio salmon steelhead taper instead. You will be much happier... or you can purchase a so called full floating (more like intermediate sinking) sharkskin for a third again as much.

my two cents.

I've got one on my 6-wt. Picked it up half price from someone on the net. I don't think I'd have touched it for the suggested retail price.

So far it's been a great line. The two usual complaints are that it's noisy in the guides and that it's abrasive on the fingers.
The noise thing is somewhat true, but I don't find it objectionable. I haven't found its abrasiveness to be a problem, but apparently others have.

On the positive side, it casts a mile, shoots line better than any other line I've used, floats like a cork, and sheds water extremely well. It's probably best suited to steelhead fishing, fishing the flats, or other applications that require carrying a long line and making very long casts.

Time will tell if it actually lasts 3 times or so longer than more conventional lines. If it does in fact have that much more useful life, then the price could be more easily justified. As things stand, it's my current favorite on the 6-wt. for nymphing and swinging for trout. I haven't tried it on bass yet, but would expect it can throw a big popper with ease.

I have cast a couple of them. Nice lines, float high and cast smoothly, but not worth the price premium. $60 for a line is already nuts, but $100...

I've also implemented a no-Sharkskin policy in my boat. As the oarsman listening to that infernal squeaking for hours on end... aghfdafhsdfffffffffffffffff.

My experience mirrors exactly what Mike T stated. I received the line as part of a purchase of a new rod a couple of years ago. I don't think I would have paid the asking price but gone with another line. I have the line on my 8 weight steelhead rod and it does work well. I do find that the abrasiveness of the line cuts my fingers unless I wear a stripping guard with all day use.

Big fan. You cna cast it a mile and the only knock I can say is that it's noisy but the fish don't seem to mind.

Only negative I have heard about this line is that when a fish is peeling line out of your hands that it will burn little more then standard line do to the variagated surface of the line.
