Default Upper Deschutes question

I am going to be heading to the Upper river around Craine Prairie for some fly fishing. I will be there the end of July. My question is what flies should I use there. (sizes and patterns would be great). Also what size tippet should I use? Would it be worth while to fish hopper patterns in there? If so what size?

I have not fished this personally, but what I have heard is to use very high riding flies, Humpy, Irresistible or anything with lots of hackle. I don't think the hoppers are out yet, but there are lots of beatles.

The water is clear, but fairly fast so you might get by with some heavier leader.

I used to do very well with small nymphs, like a brassie, hares ear, zug bug....something like that. Good imitation of the cased caddisflies that are plentiful in that area of river. Fished the area from Cow Camp upstream. There is a nice hole right upstream from the Cow Camp campground but you can walk quite a ways further up than that. Very good brook trout fishing there sometimes......nothing monster, but respectable 10-12" fish.
