Default Are LED lights waterproof?

Folks,

I'm new to LEDs. Went into my local NAPA store to replace some lights on my boat trailer. Asked the guy "Are these waterproof?". I got a less than firm response from the guy at the counter?

I'm pretty sure they are, but I want to hear from others. Also, what kind of connector should I use for the hot line with the power from trailer to the light?

1 way to find out , dunk 'em in the sink.If they leak , seal up any openings with clear silicone.Probably want to use heat-shrink tubing for a water tight connection.

Most boat led's are waterproof. We had to replace one of ours right away. No problems since them.

Most LED lights use the same wire that your regular lights used nothing special. Just make sure you protect them from water real well. Several layers of liquid electrical tap work great.

My led's on my 05 ezloader have leaked ( R tail light ) since the day i bought it. I tried to reseal the light but it still leaked. I finally drilled 2 holes in the bottem for a drain.well finally it died 2 weeks ago and $100.00 dollars later new and inproved LED's .i had replaced my middle light bar 2 years ago ,the problem was it looked like it was tighten down to tight and cracked. SO yes they can leak .

I recommend Optronics brand LED lighting... they have a lifetime warranty. If any of the diodes fail, snap a photo and e-mail it to them. They'll send you a replacement fo' free! Worked for me, now my ENTIRE trailer is rigged with Optronics LED's.
