Hi there Riverkeeper:
I know the lake you mean. I understand it is quite cold, but more importantly, very hard to fish until late in the evening. No shore to speak of, but some very nice browns. I never did find the sucker, but have friends who have fished it and were quite impressed. Very unnatural lake! I would think harriet would be a better bet all around. good luck

Default Frog Lake

I am curious if anyone has fished frog lake (the one up the clackamas near three lynx). Apparently it is a holding pond for water that is piped out of Lake Harriet on its way to the powerstation, and the fish in it are browns that have washed down. I've been there in the evening and seen some big rises, but not been able to produce anything larger than 8", and rarely.

Riverkeeper,
I presume You mean the Frog lake on the north side of hwy 26, just past Clear Lake? If so My freind Deefly and I stopped by there Saturday June 14. We didn't have time to set up our pontoon boats so we fished from the bank with fly and bubble. (We had gone to Timothy Meadows earlier and were on the way home).

It was quite crowded, but a lot of fish were being caught. They must have stocked it recently. I caught a few fish with a Wrights Fluttering Caddis. Deefly did very well with a Renegade. Of course it was the only one he had.

It looks like a good place to take a novice as I saw a lot of kids out there having fun and catching fish. hope this helps

No, actually there is another frog lake. If you drive up 224 past promontory park and several other campgrounds, it is near the "town" of three lynx. I is not a natural lake, it is the storage reservoir for the water that is pumped to the three lynx turbines.

I fished it last year got two nice browns on a wolley worm it has no real bank and you can not float it has signs saying no boats dont know if that counts float tubes or not. it is a hard lake fished it about five times last year and only got two fish. make the extra drive to harret it is worth the drive. It is a difficult lake to fish, but it is nice that you don't have to fish your way through ten thousand planter trout before you can get your fly infront of a brown, like at harriet. A better way to fish this lake would probably be to toss spinners or something that you could cast a long way into the middle of the lake.

Thanks for the feedback
