Default Water pump ? 93 Yamaha 25 ss 2 stroke

I just bought a 1993 Yamaha 25 hp short shaft tiller 2 stroke and was trying to pull the lower unit to replace the water pump. I had all the bolts out and had separation of almost a inch.
But I could tell that the shift rod doesn’t pull out of the lower half, do to a rubber boot on it. And I didn’t see any rod coupling in there like my Johnson had, So I assume it must disconnect in the intermediate housing somewhere, anyone know the procedure????

You need to go to the Yamaha web page and take a look at the parts manual for that modal engine. it will show you how the stack up is.
then you reverse that to take it apart. If it's like the 225, after you have all the bolts out it will fall off. I do not think they have changed things that much. try that. If you do not find what you looking for try the boat doc thread. I bet Troy can give a better answer.

Thanks Himark

Good idea looking at the parts view, I have a manual but it covers 2 to 250 horse power so its a little lack on exact model procedure.
Anyway I got the new pump installed, and all is well and pumping good.

Thanks DC
