Default Chewaucan?

I just discovered this river yesterday. It was blown out due to late spring runoff.

Anybody know much about this SE Oregon river? It's BEAUTIFUL!

I looked it up in the my Fishing in Oregon book and it is reported to be the longest and best trout stream in the Freemont Nat. Forest. Good info in that book. I've never fished it. I've got a buddy that fished the Sycan R. down that way. He had a good time sight fishing for big rainbows. Both end up in Marshes and flow through mixed forest land and timber land. Might make an interesting trip.

I have fished it quite a few times. There is a lot of small fish in it. Any fish over 12" is a nice size. In some areas you can raise 20 fish in 100 yards, but most will be 6-10". A thunderstorm can blow it out for a day or two. The side creeks have lots of little natives in them. A good stream for a 3 or 4 weight rod.

There is a feature article about the Chewaucan in the current issue of Northwest Flyfishing magazine.
