Default Metolius Reports?

I'm headed over to Camp Sherman this weekend with my father. I'm thinking its kinda early for any serious hatches. Can anyone tell me any different? Also, my dad is 82 and has some mobility limitations. He can walk OK, but rough or uneven terrain can be a problem. Any suggestions on stretches of the river to hit with him? Its been a few years since I have been there. The area up from the hatchery might work (The Fools Hole?). The first campground downstream (eastside of the river) from Camp Sherman has a lot of level ground. Any other areas?

Thanks for any help.

I'd stick with that area, there are also a few other camp grounds with level spots and easy access, but I'd avoid any area outside of campgrounds. alot of the tails down are probably a little long for him, or rough along the bank. I have'nt heard of the latest reports, but it's supposed to really cool down over the weekend, with some snow flurries to 3000 feet. may be some BWO's coming off. There's always some good nymphing. You might take him to the wizards falls hole, walk him down there. Some nice big bulls lurking there too. Hope you have some luck, and it's great you're taking you dad.

Now through June is Green Drake time, although not in the stretches you mention.

Another option for your Dad is the area above Lake Creek (historically closed for many years) is now open (double check the regs). It's an easy walk upstream from the bridge (C-Tract bridge if I recall correctly), either along the river or on the now-closed road that used to acess Riverside Campground, and your dad could drop a fly in the famous Blue Hole.

blue hole is great. I always seem to catch smaller fish up by lake creek, but it it an easy walk and petty up there. good Idea.

Westfly.com usually has a relatively up-to-date report with great links to flies. Also, the folks at the Camp Sherman store are very friendly and helpful. Naturally, we'd like a full report please.

Thanks all. I'm leaving in a few hours. Yesterday I stopped in at Kaufmann's to stock up my fly box and get a report. The guy behind the counter showed me two pictures of himself holding some huge bull trout. He said the pictures were taken last week and he averaged four a day. Got me kinda excited so I decided to take my 8 wt along also. I'll post a report next week when I get back.

Hare's Ear,
Next time buy your flies at Hills discount flies in Yakima. See their website. They are by far the cheapest around decent quality, not Kaufmann's but just fin, and half the cost. They have some closouts for 65 cents. I'ave always been happy with the service and price.
