Default Billy Chinook Kokanee

I met up with a fellow Ifisher Slamminkokes and Sunday we fished BillY Chinook hard. We kept 26 Kokanee but lost about 30. We were jigging but the fish were not hitting hard so the standard lift the fish out of the water and in the boat was not working well. If we would have wanted to deal with getting treble hooks out of a net we most likely would have got our 50 fish.

At good day on the water and BBQ candy too!

(Billy not Bill Chinook; an unintentional zipper lip location  )

How deep were they? Were you fishing the Metolius arm?

1pump,

They were through out the Metolius arm. Most were caught surface jigging and few right on the bottom. We motored around until we found jumping fish, stopped to see if any biters were there.

SK, All but two of the fish had blood red meat when I filetted them. Some very fine looking fish indeed. Just throw those minnows my way. One day they will be the hot jig.

Did not see it so guess I missed the "stupid question?". As far as I can tell from how well SK did, buzz bumbs work best. SK has fished it for years and he likes Buzzs bombs. Some have very good luck with Gibbs Minnows. They did not work very well for us that day.

I basically use a dark red buzz bomb. I carry fingernail polish in my tackle box and thats basically my go to color!! Red might get outfished for an hour or two, but its definitely the most consistant color ive found!! btw Quickfisher, we fished Lake Billy Chinook!
